About the site:
Part of the paratroopers’ heritage sites, from the retaliation acts of 1953-1956. The site depicts 11 operations, including the “Kadesh” operation (i.e. the “Suez Crisis”), out of 70 operations the paratroopers carried out in that period. There’s also a lookout on the Gaza Strip, a grove for picnics and the Armistice House.
What can one see?
The monument overlooks the northwestern part of the Gaza Strip. In the memorial site, there are explanatory plaques and independent listening positions, telling the stories of the fighters and the various operations, providing some overview of the region.
What can one do?
The visit to the Black Arrow monument can be combined with a tour of the Armistice House, a picnic and a short drive/walk to the Assaf Siboni Observatory, overlooking the northern border line between Beit Hanoun, Sderot and Nir Am. The road passes between lush green fields and yielding agricultural stretches.
